Widow of crash victim wins $1.1M default judgment
Tuesday, March 13, 2012
BEND, Ore. (AP) -- The widow of a Central Oregon man has won a $1.1 million civil judgment after suing the driver who caused the crash.
The default judgment against Andrea Orozco comes after the 28-year-old pleaded guilty to criminal charges in the November 2010 crash.
Leonard Ross was killed and his wife Linda was injured. Five children in Orozco's vehicle were also injured.
Orozco was sentenced in late 2011 to 120 days in jail.
The Bend Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/zBLVKD ) Orozco failed to file a response to the suit, appear in court or hire an attorney.
Ross' attorney says the court is examining Orozco's property and assets to see if any of the judgment money can be recouped.
