Mount St. Helens — If you are a teacher planning to take a class to the environmental education programs at the Ape Caves and the Trail of Two Forests on the south side of Mount St. Helens, don’t forget to register. Last spring, nearly 1,300 students at 30 schools participated in these ranger-led programs; many more were unable to get a ranger because they registered late or not at all. The sites tended to get crowded, so this year the staff is going to keep numbers down, according to lead Park Ranger Cory Wall. Register early for the season, which runs May 16 to June 8. Visit the Teacher’s Corner page on the Mount St. Helens website: http://fs.usda.gov/goto/teacherscorner, or contact Wall at cwall02@fs.fed.us or 360-449-7838.
