PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police say a man is wounded after an officer-involved shooting in North Portland that occurred during an “active tactical incident.”

The Oregonian reports gunfire broke out at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday as the Washington County sheriff’s tactical negotiations team and the Portland Police Bureau’s gang enforcement team approached a house.

Police Bureau spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson says the teams intended to serve a search warrant involving an earlier gang-related shooting.

The officers exchanged shots with a person in a nearby house. It wasn’t immediately clear who fired first.

Simpson says no officers were injured, but a wounded man was taken to an area hospital. It was unclear if that man was the shooter.

Simpson says officers expected to remain in the area of North Fiske Street and Woolsey Avenue into the night. But he says they’re not searching for a suspect and have deemed the area secure.
