VILLANOVA, Pa (AP) — Villanova junior guard Maalik Wayns will enter his name in the 2012 NBA draft. Wayns has not hired an agent, keeping open the option of returning for his final season of eligibility.
The Wildcats announced the move Wednesday. The deadline for early entrant candidates to remove their names from draft consideration is April 10.
Wayns led the Wildcats in scoring, at 17.6 points per game. The 6-foot-2 guard was named second team All-Big East.
Coach Jay Wright says Wayns made a smart decision and is looking forward to working with him throughout the process.
