Letter: Obama weak on support for Israel

Published: March 14, 2012, 5:00pm

Think back to a time not so long ago. Israel was not only our trusted Middle East ally, it was the vital stabilizing influence in that region. In that same not-so-distant past, we would have done everything to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. The mere thought of Iran having “The Bomb” would give every sane person night terrors.

Today things are upside down. Israel seems to be our enemy. The secretary of defense has issued statements designed to undermine Israel’s ability to defend itself. And as Iran moves to being within months of having that very bomb, we propose weak sanctions.

How did we get to this upside down point where friends are enemies and enemies are friends? One answer — President Obama.

It makes you wonder if Obama really wants to protect the U.S.
