Georgia Tech baseball coach Hall earns 1,000th win

ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia Tech’s Danny Hall became the 47th Division I coach to win 1,000 games, reaching the milestone with the Yellow Jackets’ 12-3 victory over Virginia Tech on Friday night.

Hall is 1,000-471-1 in 25 seasons, including the last 19 at Georgia Tech. He has a school-record 792 wins while leading the Yellow Jackets to three College World Series appearances, 16 NCAA tournament regionals and three ACC tournament titles.

Hall coached for six years at Kent State before coming to Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech ace Buck Farmer (4-1) scattered six hits and two runs over seven innings and struck out seven, and Jake Davies drove in a career-high five runs for Georgia Tech (13-5). Daniel Palka hit his team-leading fifth home run in the win over Virginia Tech (14-5).
