Letter: Deflate cost by nationalizing oil

I believe a good solution to the increasing price of gasoline would be the nationalization of the United States oil industry. We don’t hire mercenaries to do our fighting in a war because mercenaries are only out for money, not what is best for our nation. We “hired” the oil industry to supply products, but now they have become mercenaries.

Oil is critical to everything in our economy and to our national security. The oil industry is simply a middle man who takes the resources that we, the public, already own and sells them back to us for a huge profit.

The extraction and refining of oil in the United States can easily be nationalized. A good example of the benefits of nationalization is Mexico. The consumer cost of oil products in Mexico is about half our current cost. Some would say this is socialism. But that is only a word.

Let us do what now makes financial sense for all of us.
