Camas takes state Knowledge Bowl, again

The Knowledge Bowl team from Camas High School won the state championship Saturday.

Six students — Marcus Bintz, Evan Roche, Tim Grote, Noah Wachlin, Griffin King and Vaughn Okerlund — gave more correct answers in the interdisciplinary contest than any other group in the 3-A division, said Dale Croswell, the team’s coach.

The contest requires teams to answer questions on a broad range of topics, including math, science, literature and history.

This is the third year in a row that a Camas team has taken the state title in its division, Croswell said. This year’s team featured a whole new crop of students, as the previous winners all graduated in 2011, he said.

The competition was held at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, just north of Everett. Eighteen teams competed in each division.
