Trevor Cahill loses to former team, drops to 0-3

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Trevor Cahill lost to his former team and dropped to 0-3 in spring training as the Oakland Athletics beat an Arizona Diamondbacks’ split squad 11-2 Sunday for their ninth win in 10 games.

Cahill, acquired in December along with Craig Breslow for prospects, allowed two runs, two hits and two walks in three innings with two strikeouts.

Brandon Moss homered, had three hits and drove in four runs for the A’s. Kurt Suzuki hit a two-run homer and Kila Ka’aihue added a solo drive.

Oakland starter Tyson Ross allowed four hits in three scoreless innings with a walk and a strikeout.

Arizona’s Matt Davidson hit a two-run homer in a game delayed by rain for 36 minutes after the third inning.
