Letter: Continue investment in drilling

In response to Mark McCarron-Fraser’s March 9 letter, “Protect ANWR from drilling,” he’s saying the same thing that Obama is saying. Green energy. Stop using fossil fuels.

But what they don’t ask is: What will replace it? You cannot stop in the middle of the stream, you need to continue. Would they propose windmills on top of our cars, solar panels, electric cars that go 30 miles per charge? We need oil for the foreseeable future while continuing with investment in the other sources of energy.

McCarron-Fraser is using the same old rhetoric that the left uses all the time. His claim is that Arctic National Wildlife Refuge production will take 10 years — that was what they said when Clinton was in office. Had they done it then, we would now be getting oil from ANWR.

I’ve heard that an oil-drilling man from an oil company said with the new technology it could take a year and one-half to get oil from some of the region. Of course, the news media will downplay that.

Another claim is that we would ruin the pristine ANWR landscape. Also a bogus argument. How many people visit ANWR yearly?

It is time for us to take care of us first, then worry about the other problems.
