ISTANBUL (AP) — UEFA is meeting in Turkey to decide which city will host the 2014 Champions League final.

The governing body of European soccer opened a two-day executive committee meeting in Istanbul against a backdrop of tensions with local club Fenerbahce, which is implicated in a match-fixing scandal.

Fenerbahce has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, seeking compensation for being kicked out of the lucrative Champions League last August.

UEFA is expected to sign a renewed pact with European clubs that includes an increase of payments to clubs whose players are selected for the European Championship.

UEFA also will hold its annual congress of 53 soccer nations on Thursday.
