1 killed in wrong-way fatality on I5 in Seattle

SEATTLE (AP) -- One person was killed in a wrong-way head-on collision on I-5 near downtown Seattle.

It happened about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on a ramp at the I-90 interchange.

The Washington State Patrol says the passenger in the wrong-way car was ejected in the collision with a pickup truck. The drivers of the car and the pickup were both injured.

Trooper Julie Startup says alcohol may have been a factor in the collision. The Patrol says the driver of the car, a 40-year-old Covington woman, could be charged with vehicular homicide.

The accident was cleared about 5 a.m. before there was much effect on morning traffic.
