SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Coach Brian Kelly enters his third spring practice at Notre Dame still looking for a quarterback who can make his offense click without turning the ball over.

Kelly says the Irish will scale things back when spring drills begin Wednesday to give all four quarterbacks an equal opportunity to compete.

The group includes Tommy Rees, who took over as the starter in the second game last season, and junior Andrew Hendrix, who became a change-of-pace choice for Notre Dame. It also includes sophomore Everett Golson and highly-touted recruit Gunner Kiel.

Kelly also revealed that running back Amir Carlisle, who transferred from Southern Cal and was available to play next season, broke his ankle in workouts and will miss spring drills.
