The Vancouver Citizens’ Commission on Mayor/City Council Salaries will hold its fourth meeting and public hearing at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.

The commission includes five community members who are appointed by the mayor, subject to approval by the city council. The commission studies the relationship of salaries to the duties of the mayor and city council members and sets their salaries.

The last biannual review concluded with no salary increase for the mayor or city council.

Mayor Tim Leavitt now earns $2,200 a month; Mayor Pro Tempore Larry Smith gets $2,000; the rest are each paid $1,781 per month for their part-time public service positions.

Each also may choose to collect an average of $820 a month worth of health and life insurance and retirement benefits

The commission must file salaries with the city by May 1, for inclusion in the 2013-2014 budget.

The meeting will be in the first floor Aspen conference room at City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St.
