EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Eugene police say an officer suffered a bump on the head in a scuffle with a drunken driving suspect.
Officers had responded to an SUV in a ditch Wednesday afternoon and were conducting a sobriety test on the driver when the 50-year-old Eugene man became combative.
An officer was trying to handcuff him when they fell to the ground, and the officer hit his head. Another officer used a Taser to subdue the suspect. He’s in the Lane County Jail on charges of assaulting a public safety officer and reckless driving.
The injured officer was treated at a hospital.
