JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Former New York Giants cornerback Aaron Ross has agreed to a three-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, giving the team added depth in the secondary.
Ross is in Jacksonville and is scheduled to sign his contract Wednesday. The deal could be worth up to $15.3 million, an investment that indicates Ross will compete with veteran Rashean Mathis for a starting spot.
Mathis signed a one-year deal earlier this month.
Ross, a first-round pick by the Giants in 2007, had a career-high four interceptions last season. He was inserted back in the starting lineup after Terrell Thomas went down with a season-ending knee injury.
Ross is married to Olympic gold medal track athlete Sanya Richards-Ross.
