An overnight fire caused heavy damage to a home in the Sunnyside neighborhood north of Padden Parkway, officials said.

The fire was reported around 1:25 a.m. at 9800 N.E. 90th Ave. Firefighters arrived eight minutes later and found heavy fire coming out of the garage and extending into the house, said Capt. Dave James, a Vancouver fire spokesman.

Firefighters had the fire out by 2:13 a.m.

A woman was watching TV in the home when the fire started, James said. She smelled smoke, saw the garage was on fire, got her family out and called 911.

No one was reported injured.

The family — a husband, wife, two kids and dog — went to a relative’s home in the area.

The cause of the fire and damage estimates are expected to be available Monday. A Fire Marshal on the scene said he didn’t see anything suspicious, James said.

County property records indicate the home is owned by Tiffany Hovis.
