Letter: Local businesses contribute
Thursday, March 22, 2012
I am working with the Parent-Teacher-Student Association from the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics to host a silent auction to raise money for a substance-free graduation party for the class of 2012. Fundraising is challenging, and has become even more so in these difficult economic times.
I have been pleasantly astounded, however, by the abundant generosity of small business owners in the Vancouver area. The overwhelming majority of businesses we approached donated magnanimously to the silent auction, which is a remarkable and refreshing testament to their commitment to our community.
I wish to publicly and sincerely thank each and every business that contributed to this effort, and to extend an open invitation to my fellow Vancouverites to attend the 2012 Silent Auction and Senior Showcase at 6 p.m. March 23 at VSAA. Come see the offerings of our local businesses and take note of their generosity.
And the next time you need products or services, please consider shopping locally to support the businesses that benevolently support us, the Vancouver community.
