Pedestrian killed on Highway 53 near WA state line

RATHDRUM, Idaho (AP) -- Idaho State Police say a man walking on Highway 53 west of Rathdrum was struck and killed near the Washington state line.
The ISP says it received reports at about 9 p.m. Thursday that a man was acting erratically and walking and standing in the middle of the highway.
Officers who responded found that 33-year-old Jared M. Pope of Spokane, Wash., had been struck by a pickup truck and killed.
KHQ reports (http://is.gd/32FEte ) the driver stopped and called police.
The ISP is still investigating.
