OAKRIDGE, Ore. (AP) — Fire has badly damaged a Siuslaw (SEEUSE-law) Bank branch in Oakridge, Ore., southeast of Eugene.

Employees evacuated the burning bank on Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

Fire crews tell KEZI they think a power surge started the fire at the back of the bank. They arrived to find smoke billowing from three sides of the building and flames in the back.

Assistant Vice President Jenny Bennett says client deposits and safe deposit boxes are safe.

There was no immediate damage estimate.

On March 12, a wind-driven fire raced through an Umpqua Bank branch in Newport, on the Oregon coast. Newport Fire Chief Phillip Paige told KATU that employees first noticed smoke coming from close to an ATM in the lobby. No one was injured.
