Letter: Strive for truth in product labeling

The news on what’s in our ground beef — most recently, the ammonia-treated “pink slime” that is approved by the USDA to feed to our children in schools — is unbelievable. I explained this to my 7-year-old as we began packing his lunch. Between the recent arsenic in apple juice, the orange juice “preservation” process, genetically-modified organisms and now this, I am fearful of the FDA and USDA and what they think is OK for us to eat. It’s time for our food to be completely and honestly labeled.
