NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard has rescued a man whose boat capsized in Yaquina Bay near Newport.
The man issued a distress call Saturday morning, telling the Coast Guard his 22-foot recreational craft was taking on water near the bay’s north jetty. The Coast Guard dispatched land, sea and air crews, and rescuers from the land unit helped the exhausted man to shore on North Beach.
Officials say the man was wearing a life jacket. He was not identified.
