LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — New Nebraska coach Tim Miles says fans probably aren’t familiar with him, but he asks them to give him a chance to turn around the long-struggling Cornhuskers men’s basketball program.

Miles was introduced at a news conference in Lincoln on Saturday. He resigned from Colorado State on Friday after leading the Rams to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2003.

This will be Miles’ first job in a power conference like the Big Ten. He coached at small colleges before taking the CSU job in 2007, and the Rams improved each season.

Miles will take over a program that hasn’t won a share of a conference championship since 1950 or played in the NCAA tournament since 1998. The Huskers have never won a game in six NCAA appearances.
