Donation boxes in Ashland to benefit homeless
Sunday, March 25, 2012
ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) -- The Ashland Chamber of Commerce is installing three donation boxes downtown that ask people to drop in money instead of handing it out to panhandlers.
Signs will say "Give a hand up, not a hand out to those in need."
The Mail Tribune reports (http://is.gd/wuxwRn0 ) the donations boxes were approved by the city council. The donations will go to St. Vincent de Paul because of its work helping people escape homelessness.
