Key question in Penn State case: Who is Victim 2?

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A central allegation against former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky is also shaping up to be a central mystery of the case.

Another assistant alleges he saw Sandusky raping a boy in a team shower years ago. The boy is referred to in court papers as Victim 2. His identity isn’t known to authorities.

That could make it harder for them to make their case when Sandusky is tried on allegations that he sexually abused several boys for years. Sandusky’s lawyer says a man has come forward to say he’s Victim 2. But the lawyer doesn’t plan to call him to testify, partly because he’s not sure what the man will say.

The 68-year-old Sandusky awaits trial in May. He denies the allegations.
