EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — In less than a month the Oregon State Marine Board received nearly 3,000 comments about the ban on motorboats and seaplanes on Waldo Lake.
The agency says most comments support the ban; about 30 ask that the ban be modified.
The Register-Guard reports (http://is.gd/FugdD3 ) the board is reassessing the 2010 ban because of a lawsuit filed by some motorboat and seaplane owners. They say the ban is unnecessary and the state board doesn’t control the lake.
Many hikers and kayakers say Waldo Lake is a haven that should be protected from engine noise and pollution.
