Three-car collision sends woman to hospital

Here is a press release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office:

On 3/25/2012 at 0256 hours Vancouver Fire Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a three-car collision with injuries, in the 14400 block of NE 72nd Avenue, Vancouver, Washington

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Pickup traveling northbound on NE 72nd Avenue and driven by Christopher Norgaard of Battle Ground crossed the centerline of the roadway, colliding with two southbound vehicles.

Norgaard’s truck sideswiped the first vehicle, a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice, driven by Hugo Martinez-Tapia of Portland.

Norgaard then collided head-on with a second southbound vehicle, a 1998 Honda Civic, driven by Martha Silva-Paz also of Portland.

Silva-Paz was transported to Peace Health Southwest Medical Center with serious injuries.

The roadway in the area of the collision runs straight north/south, and consists of two-lanes. The posted speed is 50 mph.

At the time of this notification, the cause of the collision is under investigation by the CCSO Traffic Unit.
