PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A toddler from the Portland suburb of Hillsboro, Ore., has died, a day after he fell into a washing machine full of water.

The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the boy as Ollie Hebb.

The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/H2wmCu ) says the 18-month-old boy died Saturday evening at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

Hillsboro Lt. Mike Rouches says the boy crawled up on top of the washer Friday morning by using some type of tub that was against it. The machine was operating with its lid open.

He says the boy’s mother reportedly was reading a book in the living room when the accident happened. The child was not breathing when the woman found him in the washer about a minute later.
