EAGLE POINT, Ore. (AP) — Jackson County, Ore., sheriff’s officers are calling the deaths of a man and woman at a rural home near Eagle Point a murder-suicide.

According to the sheriff’s office, relatives say 53-year-old Liesa Werner had recently broken off a relationship with a 56-year-old Eureka, Calif., man.

The sheriff’s office says Werner was found dead Sunday with a single gunshot wound and Eugene Koch was also found in the home, dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The case remains under investigation.
