PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Portland doughnut shop employee recalls thinking seconds after she was robbed at gunpoint that the female robber didn’t look that tough — and perhaps the gun wasn’t loaded.
So 20-year-old Jenny Abarca says she chased down the woman and started wrestling with her Wednesday. Then, Abarca tells The Oregonian (http://is.gd/axDh02), she found herself holding the gun, so she hit the woman on the head with it.
That’s when the robber handed back the money — about $70.
The Daylight Donuts employee headed back to her shop, gun in hand, and says the robber left when she saw Abarca pick up a phone to call police.
The gun turned out to be a BB gun that resembled a real weapon. Still, Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson cautions people not to take things into their own hands and instead focus on being “a good witness.”
