MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) -- A prosecutor in Medford says a former Marine tried to hire someone to kill his wife before shooting her himself.
The Medford Mail Tribune (http://bit.ly/HeCp2r ) reports that 43-year-old Bourne Huddleston pleaded not guilty Monday. Among the charges are murder, attempted aggravated murder, and soliciting aggravated murder.
Prosecutor David Hoppe didn't name the person Huddleston allegedly tried to hire.
Huddleston's 34-year-old wife, Kristy, died of a gunshot wound Friday. Their 10-year-old son was placed in foster care.
The Mail Tribune says military records show Huddleston served in the first Iraq War in the early 1990s and had later tours in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan before retiring in 2009. His assignments over two decades included aircraft mechanic, recruiter and martial arts instructor.
