PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A judge in Portland has wiped the slate clean for a couple whose Valentine's Day naked role-playing stunt grabbed international headlines but failed to amuse local police.
Police said a 32-year-old Portland man and his 26-year-old girlfriend not only created public alarm about a possible kidnapping but took up the time of at least nine patrol cars for 20 minutes on Feb. 14. A 911 caller had reported seeing a car leaving a grocery parking lot with a naked woman tied up in the back with duct tape over her mouth.
The pair were charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor that prosecutors pursued as a violation similar to a parking ticket. They pleaded guilty and completed 16 hours of community service. On Wednesday, The Oregonian says that a Multnomah County judge dismissed their cases.
