At its annual Clark County luncheon on April 12, charity Loaves and Fishes will recognize Larry Smith with its Compassion for Seniors award.

Smith led the Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation Department before being elected to the Vancouver City Council in 2004. As parks and recreation director, he helped implement SNAP, a senior nutrition program. And he played a key role in introducing Loaves & Fishes to Clark County in 2006. Loaves & Fishes, the so-called “Meals on Wheels People,” delivers food to homebound senior citizens.

The luncheon is set for noon Thursday, April 12, at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. Sixth St. The event is free, but a donation appeal will be made and registration is required. Call 503-953-8114 or visit feedseniors.org.
