Letter: Abuse of animals rising in the U.S.

Right now, somewhere, there is an animal being starved or neglected. Why do people get pets when they don’t want them? No matter how cute an animal is when you get it, they are a big responsibility to have. If you can’t afford or don’t have enough time for a pet, don’t get one.

In the United States, it’s been reported that 300,000 animals die each year from neglect. That amount could easily be reduced.

There are many cases of animal neglect. Some cases get so bad that they are hard to look at or hear about.

Animal abuse isn’t a new problem; it has been around for many years. Animals that need a second chance are everywhere, looking for good homes. There are a lot of ways to help animals. Donate money or adopt a pet to help.
