NEW YORK (AP) -- Free agent pitcher Lary Vasquez has been suspended for 50 games following a positive test under baseball's minor league drug program.
The commissioner's officer said Friday the 20-year-old left-hander tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol. The penalty will start when he signs with a major league organization. He had signed with Detroit in February, and the contract was voided as a result of the positive test.
There have been 28 suspensions this year under the minor league drug program.
