Catch a Thief wins Big A’s Plugged Nickle Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Catch a Thief, a 7-1 long shot, rallied in the mud to beat Indian Burn by 1 1/4 lengths Saturday in the $75,000 Plugged Nickle Stakes for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.

The 5-year-old trained by Tim Hills motored down the center of the track for her sixth win in 16 starts. Eddie Castro was aboard for his third win on the card. The time was 1:38.84 for a mile.

Catch a Thief paid $16.80, $7.20 and $4.70. Indian Burn returned $11.60 and $4.30, and Opus A, the 6-5 favorite, faded to third and paid $2.60 to show.
