Body found in Bellingham creek may be missing man

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) -- The man whose body was found Tuesday in a Bellingham creek may be a Lummi tribal elder who has been missing since Jan. 21.
The Bellingham Herald reports (http://is.gd/IvgBSn ) the family of 72-year-old Robert D. Johnson was notified about the body. He was last seen at a downtown bus station.
The Whatcom County medical examiner's office is conducting an autopsy Wednesday.
The body was discovered in Whatcom Creek by workers with the Washington Conservation Corps in a heavily wooded area. A previous story said the body was discovered by workers with another agency.
