LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Erin Hamlin and the doubles team of Christian Niccum and Jayson Terdiman head the list of athletes named to the U.S. national luge team for the fall.

Chris Mazdzer, of Saranac Lake, N.Y., who spent the first half of last season focusing on sled and race equipment development, will lead the men’s team, which also includes Taylor Morris, of South Jordan, Utah, and Isaac Underwood, of Skandia, Mich.

Hamlin, a two-time Olympian and former world champion from Remsen, N.Y., will be joined by Julia Clukey, of Augusta, Maine, who spent much of last season recovering from a surgical procedure to relieve headaches and other symptoms caused by Arnold-Chiari Syndrome. Kate Hansen, of La Canada, Calif., and Emily Sweeney of Suffield, Conn., also were named to the team.

Niccum, of Woodinville, Wash., and Terdiman, of Berwick, Pa., finished seventh in the World Cup last season. Matt Mortensen, of Huntington Station, N.Y., and Preston Griffall, of Salt Lake City, also were named.
