EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — From the moment Christian Ponder took over the Minnesota Vikings offense in Week 5 of his rookie season, the quarterback never stopped scrambling.

Ponder didn’t have a summer to build a rapport with his teammates and prepare for training camp because of the lockout. Once the season started, it only took five weeks for the Vikings to bench Donovan McNabb and turn the offense over to their first-round draft pick.

Ponder says he found it difficult to lead during such a hectic period. Now as he participates in his first voluntary workouts as a Viking, he says he “can comfortably say this is my team.”

Ponder has asserted himself as a leader this offseason and is looking forward to a much smoother second season in the NFL.
