STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut has received a verbal commitment from a 6-foot-10 forward, just as another officially transferred from the school.

Phil Nolan, a recruit from Milwaukee, gave UConn a verbal commitment on Thursday. He told reporters Thursday evening that he expects to compete immediately for playing time on a UConn team that has lost four big men in the last month.

Western Kentucky confirmed Friday that it has received the transfer papers of 6-10 redshirt freshman Michael Bradley.

Freshman Andre Drummond last month declared for the NBA draft, junior Alex Oriakhi transferred to Missouri, and sophomore Roscoe Smith also has been released from his scholarship and intends to transfer.

UConn is facing a ban from the 2013 postseason because of failures to meet NCAA academic standards.
