EL PASO, Texas (AP) — The focus is back on WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and challenger Andy Lee.
Their June 16 bout at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, was temporarily scuttled by security concerns. Promoter Bob Arum was in El Paso on Friday to tout the fight.
Chavez is 47-0, coming off a unanimous decision over fellow Mexican Marco Antonio Rubio in San Antonio in February. Lee is 28-1 and coming off a second-round knockout of Mexico’s Saul Duran in March.
