DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies have selected the contract of right-hander Carlos Torres from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take the roster spot of struggling starter Jhoulys Chacin.

Torres will be available Friday night against the Atlanta Braves. Chacin was optioned to the Sky Sox on Wednesday after getting off to a rocky start, going 0-3 with a 7.30 ERA.

The 29-year-old Torres is back in the majors for the first time since 2010 when he was with the Chicago White Sox. Torres was 2-1 with a 2.88 ERA in five starts for the Sky Sox this season.
