House Speaker Boehner to be in Vancouver May 25

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) -- House Speaker John Boehner will be in Vancouver on May 25 to campaign for U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler.

The Columbian (http://is.gd/2URujI ) reports that a $1,000 donation to Herrera Beutler's campaign, buts a ticket for a photo reception with Boehner. A lunch fundraiser follows.

The Republican representative is completing her first two-year term in Congress.

Boehner appeared at another Herrera Beutler's fundraisers in September. At that event, participants could pay $2,500 to have a "roundtable discussion" with Boehner.

Herrera Beutler's only announced opponent so far is Democrat Jon T. Haugen, a commercial pilot from Vancouver.

The deadline for candidate filing is May 18.
