Body in Long Lake may be missing Fairchild airman

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Officials are trying to identify a body found in Long Lake and determine whether it's the Fairchild airman who disappeared March 31 when he attempted to canoe in the fast-moving Spokane River.

Fishermen found the body Sunday and Stevens County called Spokane County deputies to help with the investigation.

The 25-year-old airman, James Adam Ramsey Lassiter, disappeared March 31. His vehicle was later found at the Bowl and Pitcher area.

His canoe was found last month at the Seven Mile Bridge, pinned against a support pillar by the current.
