WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth left Sunday night’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies after hurting himself while trying to make a sliding catch.

Werth was injured in the sixth inning. He was holding his left wrist as he walked off.

With two outs, Werth tried to grab Pete Orr’s sinking liner. Werth’s glove got caught underneath him and he bent his wrist backward.

Werth stayed on the ground briefly before throwing the ball back to the infield. He then dropped back to the grass.

Xavier Nady replaced Werth in right field. Werth was 1 for 2 with a single in the game.
