THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) -- When a state trooper pulled over a car for erratic driving in The Dalles he found a 10-year-old behind the wheel and his father drinking beer and trying to steer from the passenger seat.
Oregon State Police say the 34-year-old man from The Dalles was arrested Sunday morning on drunken driving and other charges. There was an open beer can at his feet and five empties in the back seat.
The car drew the trooper's attention because it had hazard lights on, wasn't staying in its lane and was stopping in the road.
When the boy's mother was called to pick him up, she was cited for not having a valid license. Friends picked up the woman and son. The man was jailed at the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility.
