OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) — A Clackamas County jail deputy who smashed a drunken inmate into a wall and threw him to the floor was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail.

A jury convicted 44-year-old Troy Alan Steiner of fourth-degree assault and official misconduct for roughing up 64-year-old Gary Willis Baumgardner in August 2010 as he was being moved.

Steiner said Baumgardner was aggressive and threatened to harm him.

Video showed Baumgardner shuffling down a hall before Steiner takes him down.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/7LMJSC ) Steiner lost his job of 10 years, and the Board on Public Safety Standards and Training is expected to revoke his certification. He will serve his jail term in another Oregon county.
