Letter: Tragedies remind us to use caution
Monday, May 7, 2012
In the past two weeks alone, there have been three serious bike-vehicle collisions. All seem to occur in the street where the cars have the right of way. One instance killed a child, and two adults were hospitalized.
When I started riding bikes in the 1950s, I was taught to get off my bike at the corner and walk it across the street. What happened to this simple precaution? Sadly, these tragedies may have been prevented if this rule of thumb had been applied.
My heart goes out to all these families.
