3 WA high schools make list of nation’s best

SEATTLE (AP) — Three of Washington’s public high schools have made a list of the nation’s top 100, including one school in the top 10.

U.S. News & World Report says Bellevue’s International School is the ninth best high school in the nation in the magazine’s annual list of top schools. The small magnet school was ranked No. 10 on last year’s list.

Another Bellevue school — Newport High School — is ranked No. 100. Bellevue High School is ranked 113th..

The International Community School in Kirkland is ranked 34 on the list that came out Monday.

The magazine ranks high schools according to standardized test scores, how the schools’ least advantaged kids are doing, and a look at college preparation from Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate test results.
