OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Athletics scratched center fielder Yoenis Cespedes from the lineup shortly before Tuesday night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Cespedes left batting practice early and the team announced he was out of the lineup about an hour before first pitch. The A’s did not give a reason for the change. Josh Reddick moved from right field to center field, Seth Smith started in left field and Michael Taylor moved from left to right.

Cespedes signed a $36 million, four-year deal this spring with Oakland after defecting from Cuba. He is batting .245 with five homers and 21 RBIs so far this season.
